Well, the non-graded stake schedule is done... whew! A few notes : I added the region number I have been hinting at to the upcoming races page. I'll be redoing that page eventually to have the tracks broken up by regions. These currently mean nothing, but eventually will. Again, you'll be given a 6 week warning before they mean anything. Some of the region splitting was tough, but was done to try and balance regions. The US was especially tricky to split, but should make sense if you approach it in whole. I didn't cut as many stakes as I originally intended, but I had a reason listed in the next paragraph. I only cut what amounts to about 100 or so stakes when compared to last year (I really wanted to cut about 200-400). They should be balanced much better than before in terms of distance / surface / age / location. A lot of purses were slashed. Why? It's very likely that purse value will be taken into account later in the year when determining stakes points awarded for running in stakes races. You'll get at least a 6 week warning on that as well. I realize some tracks have multiple stakes races in one week and not one on other weeks. This is by design. I also realize that there are not stakes races carded in particular US regions during the winter months of the year. This, again, is by design. Now that the stakes scheduling is done, it's on to more programming! --Mike
