Hey folks!
Well - good news; I didn't have to destroy my old database. Because the update did NOT go well from my end... at all.. I had hoped my replication server that was I matching my primary SQL server over the last 2 weeks would flag any updating errors. Well, it didn't... So when I rolled over to MySQL 8.0 and started last night's update, all sorts of things went sideways due to some deprecation issues.. too many to address on the fly. Long and short - we are back on the exact same database we were yesterday.... I am going to continue backing it up manually for the next month or so, while I use my replication server to NOT act a replicant and, instead, act as a test server. So we may have to do something similar in the future but I it will defnititely be a while - I'm sick of looking at tables, personally. Also, I will be really hammering the test environment before trying to make the switch. I may reach out to some folks for help on this as well. I apologize things didn't go as planned today. Last night's update is currently running, which means things are gonna be a bit slow... ..but the good news is, if it worked yesterday, it should work going forward, as I am running the exact same database as before. Thanks you for your patience and understanding. --Mike |
